The asphalt topping the streets and roads of modern Charleston County covers a curious variety of antique layers deposited over the past two centuries. Join us for an enlightening presentation by Dr. Nic Butler, historian at the Charleston County Public Library, for an illustrated survey of the historic paving materials and strategies used to facilitate movement within the city and across the Lowcountry.
