Charleston Moves, in partnership with The Concerned Citizens of Accabee, is hosting a community walk through North Charleston's Accabee neighborhood. The goals of the event are to: document where pedestrian infrastructure is lacking or subpar, observe where and how people are currently traveling, and survey/interview participants and interested neighbors.
This data collection exercise will help to bring the community's voice to the table, so they can advocate for the types of improvements that would most benefit their unique neighborhood. Charleston Moves will compile this information into a report to share with the City of North Charleston as they embark on developing a comprehensive Safety Action Plan this year. This Safety Action Plan will ultimately lay out priority projects to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety and accessibility, amongst other things, and is a tool to identify design and implementation funding to ultimately construct those projects. Charleston Moves serves on the Stakeholder Committee for the City's Safety Action Plan. Donations to our Accabee Walking Audit support our North Charleston advocacy efforts.
If you live in North Charleston and have not yet taken our survey, please do so HERE.
