Ride of Silence 2026
May 20, 2026 @ 5:30PM — 8:30PM Eastern Time (US & Canada) Add to Calendar
Over the Horizon Brewing: 2200 Heriot St Charleston, SC 29403 Get Directions
In honor of the International Ride of Silence, we are hosting a local rolling memorial for the community members who have been killed and injured on our roads while biking, due to traffic violence. This critical mass ride will cover main corridors of the peninsula, highlighting areas with both scheduled and needed safety improvements. This is a signature Charleston Moves event that embodies the urgent nature of our advocacy, and we sincerely hope you will participate. Following the ride, we will return to Over the Horizon Brewing for a social hour ($1/pint benefits Charleston Moves).
Donations advance our safe streets work, on the peninsula and beyond, to propel our vision of a connected network — where each of us has a choice in how we move from one place to another. Because the streets belong to everyone. Pedestrians and school kids. People on bicycles and people on buses. Citizens in wheelchairs and with canes. All of us moving. Safely. Together.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO THE RIDE:
- Completing our waiver is a requirement to participate in the ride. Please fill it out in advance HERE.
- The ride will depart at 6:15 pm; you must arrive no later than 6 pm to check in.
- The ride will begin and end at Over the Horizon Brewing (2200 Heriot Street, 29403). The route is ~6 miles and should take ~45 minutes to complete. Before committing, be aware of this distance and that we will ride on roads (not sidewalks or paths).
- We will have a police escort. This ride will be casually-paced, but we must stay together for the escort to be effective. Unless you have a mechanical issue or the group is obeying a traffic law, stopping during the ride is not permitted.
- For the safety of all, children under 12 must ride attached to a guardian, not on their own bike — consider a trailer or tandem bicycle. Pets are not allowed on the ride.
- We encourage you to ride your bike to the event. For those who need to drive, there is parking in the grass lot adjacent to Over the Horizon Brewing. The area is also served by CARTA Route 102.
- Please join us after the ride for a social hour! $1/pint will benefit Charleston Moves.
