Huger Walking Audit
May 28, 2026 @ 5:30PM — 7:00PM Eastern Time (US & Canada) Add to Calendar
Charleston Moves is hosting a community walk of Charleston's Huger Street corridor. The goals of the event are to: document where infrastructure is lacking or subpar, observe where and how people are currently traveling, propose potential suggestions for improvement, and conduct surveys/interviews.
This data collection exercise will help to bring the community's voice to the table, so they can advocate for the types of improvements that would most benefit their neighborhood or commuting/recreational route. Charleston Moves will compile this information into a report to share with the City of Charleston (alongside our bike/ped count report from 2022), as it is important to upgrade this key east-west corridor for people walking and biking, providing a link between the Ashley River Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge, Lowline, and Wonders' Way on the Ravenel Bridge. Donations will advance our on-the-ground advocacy for people-oriented spaces that enable transportation choice.
SCHEDULE:
5:30 pm » Participants meet at the corner of Hampton Park at Mary Murray Drive/Ashley Avenue, brief comments
6 pm » Walk begins
7 pm » Walk concludes
