Join Charleston Moves for a celebratory ride showcasing the new multi-use path on the Cosgrove Avenue overpass and separated two-way bike lane (with green paint) along North Hobson Avenue on the Navy Base! This dedicated infrastructure advances the multi-modal network in North Charleston, and what's more, elevates the standard of proper bike/ped design for our region. Following the ride, we'll return to COAST Brewing Co. for a social hour ($1/pint benefits Charleston Moves)!
Charleston Moves continues to advocate for a robust comprehensive Safety Action Plan for the City of North Charleston to identify multi-modal priorities and guide funding for installation of such projects. If you've yet to take our survey, please do so HERE. We are on the Stakeholder Committee for the development of this Plan, and will share your input during the process. Your donation helps to support our ongoing complete streets advocacy, including bike/ped infrastructure and quality public transit throughout the City of North Charleston.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO THE RIDE:
- Completing our waiver is a requirement to participate in the ride. Please fill it out in advance HERE.
- The ride will depart at 11:15 am; you must arrive no later than 11 am to check in.
- The ride will begin and end at COAST Brewing Co. (1250 2nd St N, 29405). The route is ~5.4 miles and should take ~35 minutes to complete. Before committing, be aware of this distance and that we will ride on roads — many, but not all of which, have dedicated bicycle infrastructure.
- We will not have a police escort. Much of the route will be on streets with infrastructure, but not all. This ride will be casually-paced, and will obey all traffic laws. Unless you have a mechanical issue or the group is obeying a traffic law, stopping during the ride is not permitted.
- For the safety of all, children under 12 must ride attached to a guardian, not on their own bike — consider a trailer or tandem bicycle. Pets are not allowed on the ride.
- We encourage you to ride your bike to the event. For those who need to drive, there is parking at COAST Brewing Co. The area is also served by CARTA Route 104.
- Please join us after the ride for a social hour! $1/pint will benefit Charleston Moves.
