Moving Charleston County Forward
We at Charleston Moves are your safe streets advocates. We speak out at council meetings, shape policy, rally the community, guide projects and plans, and stand boldly as transportation leaders. The ultimate goal: transforming Charleston County into a safe, connected and comfortable place to move by bike, on foot, with assistive devices and public transit. So many of us already move by these modes, and so many more desire to do so. Our aim is to make multi-modal transportation and recreation better now to save lives, and in the future to enhance quality of life.
Each May we host Mobility Month, an event series in celebration of complete streets. We bring the community together to elevate multi-modal accomplishments, provide updates on our priority projects, and offer calls to action to advance our people-powered movement. Critical mass is of critical importance as we work to build widespread, diverse community support and demonstrate how safe, equitable infrastructure that works for all, benefits all.
Please donate to our 2026 Mobility Month Campaign. Your contribution supports our advocacy work, including:
- Grassroots organizing, such as our engagement on the proposed Transportation Sales Tax referendum
- Plan development and participation, such as this year's Rethink Folly Road Work Plan and shaping North Charleston's Safety Action Plan
- Policy development, like the City of Charleston's code changes regarding who can use shared-use paths
- Data collection, like our upcoming bike and pedestrian counts in West Ashley
- Communicating with leadership, such as coordinating support letters for federal grant applications
